Relief and Recovery from Chronic Pain and Symptoms

I support a wide range of health conditions, with a focus on chronic pain and related symptoms.

Using an integrative approach combining Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Clinical Hypnotherapy (Hypno-CBT®), I help clients achieve significant relief and enhanced quality of life.

Grounded in the latest pain science, this holistic method addresses the brain’s tendency to misinterpret safe bodily signals as threats, enabling many individuals to recover fully or become nearly pain-free.

Client Testimonials

Transformed my relationship with nausea and sickness

I had hyperemesis during my pregnancy and it left me traumatised. Annie really listened to the specifics of my concerns and tailored hypnosis recordings addressing each of these in great detail. I have managed to keep the sickness at bay and can now even eat during my chemotherapy schedule. It has honestly been life changing and helped me cope with this challenge so much more. We also did some visualising around breaking down the cancer and healing which has helped me and my recent scans have shown some positive progress. Thank you and I will be back for more when I feel I need it.

Nausea & Vomiting (Chemotherapy)

I no longer have a ‘pain’ problem

I felt hugely supported, reassured, and our sessions were more joyful than I anticipated, which also improved my mood! I feel great. I am sleeping really well now and my whole system feels calm. I no longer feel that I am someone who has a ‘pain’ problem. I am getting so much more done, now I am not nursing myself with hot water bottles! And if/when pain flares, I feel that I have all the tools to manage it. I feel that I am now in control of my health, and this is huge for me after many bad experiences with consultants who have never understood what was really going on. Without a doubt, Anne has been a wonderful coach in getting me to empower myself. I would highly recommend this approach, and Anne : no better person to help you.

IBS and Back Pain

Before I was surviving, now I’m thriving

Working with Anne has made a huge difference and my progress has been immense. The sessions were sequenced just right, and I really looked forward to our weekly meetings, which were tailored to my needs with the time to air my worries, thoughts and concerns. The Recovery Blueprint hypnotherapy session was a particularly pleasant experience and effective. Anne has given me the tools, and most of all, the belief and re-assurance that I can reach my goal. I would definitely recommend Anne to others and I am so glad I made that initial contact.

Knee Pain/CRPS

Wouldn’t Hesitate to Recommend

Anne made me feel entirely at ease throughout the whole process. She has a very gentle manner and sincere sense of empathy which made me relax and be completely honest without fear of judgement. I always felt Anne was listening intently and never hurried my responses. Anne’s soft voice is ideally suited to creating a soothing audio, especially when used before sleep. Having such a positive experience means I would not hesitate to suggest her as a therapist who will offer a supportive role in enabling others to improve their mental heath and wellbeing.

Different, Positive, Enjoyable and It Worked!

Anne was easy to talk to—I felt she always let me speak and listened to everything. She made the whole process straightforward for me and it worked which I was delighted about! Having been to therapy before, this was a different, positive and enjoyable approach for me and I gained a lot from the sessions. I feel I have been given tools and ways to help control not just my pain, but my over all wellbeing.

Outshone all previous therapies I’ve tried

For years I had been suffering from chronic tinnitus and often felt powerless in its grip. I now appreciate how powerful and beneficial Pain Reprocessing Therapy can be for people like me. Anne tailored sessions and audios to suit me as an individual; she was always full of encouragement, support, and reassurance which has had a profound effect, in such a good way, on my life and how I view things in general. I now feel calm, positive and in control—I highly recommend working with Anne.

The Impact of Living with Chronic Pain

Living with persistent pain can be overwhelming, frustrating and isolating—especially when no one really understands what you’re going through.

Being in constant pain is physically draining and mentally exhausting. Do you feel:

  • Anxious, depressed and worried but you can’t share how you really feel
  • Isolated and frustrated as no one else really understands what you’re going through
  • Pain controls your daily life; it decides what you can and can’t do
  • You’re trapped in a constant battle with your body and the pain is winning
  • Angry or hopelessmourning the loss of the life you had planned?

When every day is a struggle and you don’t know what your pain has in store, these feelings are normal. The physical pain is real but so is the mental suffering too.

Chronic pain is complex and it needs an integrative solution that treats the body, mind and emotions. Using a holistic, personalised approach means that treatment focuses on how and where the pain impacts you and your life most—and starting from there.

How would if be if you could reduce your pain, sleep better, worry less, or get clarity on what matters in life? How would it be if you could learn how to relax your mind and body whenever you need to with relaxation and self-hypnosis skills to release tension and relieve pain? What difference would it make if you had coping skills to help you deal with and release the weight of your difficult thoughts and feelings?

If you’d like to find out, get in touch for a chat. (No pressure.) We’ll talk about you and your pain so I can listen and understand how it’s impacting your life. And I can answer all your questions too. You can WhatsApp me or email using the buttons below.

How would it be if you could…

  • Find comfort, relief from—or even eliminate—chronic pain or symptoms
  • End the constant ‘boom and bust’ of doing too much then paying for it
  • Escape the cycle of stress, worry and anxiety
  • Cope with confidence and feel a sense of control over your pain
  • Learn techniques to deal with attacks, flare-ups or setbacks
  • Increase feelings of peace, freedom and happiness
  • Improve your sleep, mood, overall wellbeing and quality of life?

Hypnotherapy Facts and Hypnosis Myths

Myths and misconceptions abound about hypnosis, largely due to its portrayal in films, television, and as stage entertainment. Growing up in the 1970s, I’ll never forget the excitement of watching Uri Geller (on a three channel television!), bending forks and bringing watches back to life, as if by magic. I rushed to raid the kitchen…

By combining Cognitive Behavioural Therapy with Pain Reprocessing Therapy, clinical hypnotherapy and mindfulness, Living Well Therapy treats the body and the mind at the same time. It’s a flexible, effective and holistic approach to help manage pain, stress, and sleep so you can feel better and live more.

Chronic pain is persistent pain that lasts longer than three months or accompanies a chronic health condition, like CRPS or Fibromyalgia. ‘Chronic pain is a common, complex sensory, emotional, cognitive and behavioural long-term health condition which occurs when pain cannot be resolved by available medical or other treatments.’ British Pain Society

The majority of my work is online. This is because I am lucky enough to live in the Outer Hebrides in Scotland. Face-to-face therapy is available to those living on the Isle of Lewis.

There is now research showing that online therapy is just as effective as in-person therapy. Many clients feel more at ease when they can attend their session from the comfort of their own home, especially if they are living with pain.

The number of sessions you need will depend on the issue you are seeking help with and its severity. For persistent pain and chronic symptoms, to achieve a significant reduction or recovery, a minimum of 8 sessions is required. However, there is no pressure to sign up for a particular number of sessions and you are welcome to ‘pay as you go’, if you prefer.

Therapy offers insight and an opportunity to practise and rehearse new coping skills and behaviours, but it is by applying what you learn to your own life that you will make the greatest progress. An Action Plan that includes simple home tasks will help you make the changes you’d like in your life. All tasks are discussed and agreed beforehand—and will be in line with your goals and preferences—so there’s nothing at all to worry about. They can be as easy as keeping a Sleep Diary, practising a mindfulness or relaxation exercise, or listening to an audio track that’s been recorded especially for you.
